2K Recruits Apex Legends Lead to Rescue Troubled Action Game Ambitious Title

The renowned publisher has secured a seasoned producer from the creators of Apex Legends to direct the studio crew at their internal studio, which is currently crafting the forthcoming over-the-shoulder roguelike extraction-shooter known as this innovative game.

Leadership Change Comes After Poor Reception

Brinkman assumes the leadership position at the development studio following the dismissal of previous head Michael Condrey, who was reportedly let go due to the game's lackluster initial reveal last fall.

Recently, 2K president David Ismailer notified staff about this organizational change through an official communication, which emphasized that early feedback sessions had indicated the requirement for a distinct vision.

The president noted that the developers is now refining Project Ethos with a refreshed approach, aiming to satisfy player expectations.

A Pattern of Key Acquisitions

This announcement echoes a comparable action taken by the publisher in the summer, when they recruited an industry veteran from Blizzard to work on the beloved franchise development group.

Below is the full content from the president's announcement:

Hello Everyone—

I understand you all just finished your meeting - I hope you’re as thrilled as I am with the positive developments. Previously I sent you all a note, I stated the following: “I am confident in this group. You all are some of the most motivated and innovative designers we have had the pleasure to partner with - and we’re excited for that partnership to persist.”

Given your hard work and versatility, particularly over the past twelve months, you continue to prove that.

The player input from last fall’s Project ETHOS testing phase was enlightening. It affirmed the appeal of a roguelike shooter but told us we still had work to do. It highlighted the need for a more distinct brand.

It’s been inspiring to see how far you’ve progressed. You accepted the input to mind and overhauled the title with a renewed goal - one that’s positioned to fulfill its ambition to our fans.

The belief in this project grows every day. To advance the incredible development you’ve made, I am thrilled to announce the new hire as the new Director of the team. Following some time of talks, he comes aboard us on the specified date.

His leadership and expertise in the competitive gaming space is considerable, having spent the past decade and a half creating and managing some of the most recognizable titles in the industry, such as the acclaimed shooter, and more recently, the battle royale hit.

I invite you all in welcoming Ben in the coming days. We are all looking forward to persist seeing the development of the game in the weeks to ahead.
